Gospel artist Deborah Fraser has died.
Family spokesperson in the person of “Nontando Mafisa” confirmed that Fraser passed away on Sunday 15th of May 2022. The gospel music Singer died after midday in the presence of her family and friends following a short illness.
The Ngonile singer was hospitalised from February to March last year and was recently bound to a wheelchair after some health complications and asked for prayers after falling ill on her way to a gig at Klerksdorp in the North West.
A few years ago, she was diagnosed with diabetes and has had a few health scares. In her previous interview, she said she sold some of her properties in the city and bought a farm in the South of Johannesburg to live a healthier lifestyle.
Deborah was recently honored with a Doctor of Philosophy in Sacred Music by the Christian Leadership Academy. She said in an interview that she was not expecting the honor.
“I feel that my contribution to the music has not been in vain. I am humbled, it is a true honour,” she said.
Deborah Fraser was a South African gospel singer. She began her career in 1985 as a backing singer, and recorded her own album in 2000, titled Abanye bayombona. The album has sold over 1 million copies. Uhambo is her 10th studio album with 14 Track embedded in the album. Deborah Fraser was 56 years at the time of her death.
